Timothy Morge - Market Geometry Mentoring Sessions: Learn from a Professional Trader and Mentor

You may wonder if all students are finished after one twelve week group of mentoring sessions. The truth is, some traders are finished after twelve weeks and some traders wish to extend their mentoring for additional sessions, usually because they are still working on improving one or more areas of their trading or because they want to pursue advanced topics with us, in a one on one environment.

Timothy Morge - Market Geometry Mentoring Sessions

The original goal of this Monday morning pre-market session wasto simply point out what market had beenhot the week before, andthen, while those attending watched me prepare, point out whatmarkets I felt wouldlikely give the best trading opportunities inthe days to come. But two things have changed this generaloutline:1) I began offering the same service Tuesday through Fridaymornings when it was clear there was a demandfor this service; and2) As I did this day after day for six or seven weeks, it slowlybegan to evolve into a dailypre-market session filled with marketanalysis, but with an emphasis on teaching the people whowereregularly attending some trading tips and techniques. In manyways, it has become a daily mentoring sessionfor most of the peoplewho attend, and of course, the sessions that were originallydesigned to average from15 to 30 minutes now typically run wellover an hourbut that's because I am having fun and teaching whatIlove!

Let's look at a few other markets to see this simple techniqueat work. These charts are all from the samedays trading in thestock index futures markets, and I used them to teach the basics ofthis simple method inthe live morning sessions on Monday andTuesday:

So, let's now look at what the market did after it broke thethree drives to the bottom line. The market's movewas more elegantand the geometry was right out of the math textbook Euclid wrote inancient Greece 2300years ago! Price retraced to test the upperMedian Line parallel, giving traders a high-probability area toentera short position and then collapsed. And if you simply measurethe move, price made a perfect 1:1 movementto the downside, meaningit moved as far down from the retracement as it did in its originalfall that broke thethree drives to the bottom. And that measuredmove tested the red, down-sloping Median Line perfectly.Where youwould expect price to run out of downside directional energy?

If you will, please think back to the beginning of this article.I love to teach and I am in the giving back periodof my career. These moves came mid-day, well after our pre-market sessions endedand too far in advance forme to accurately predict where a probableentry would form. I was able to catch a ride on the slide, butwouldthe traders who attend the pre-market sessions be able toapply these techniques as the day unfolded? Wouldthey find an entryafter the break of the three drives to the bottom?

Thanks for spending time reviewing the market structure duringyour morning sessions. This (chart of the) EStoday shows a goodexample of the 123-hit-the-range-then-break set up the range test1-2-3 or however it iscalled. This was another great trade todayusing the stuff you have taught me in the morning sessions.Again, thanks for your teaching efforts as they have improved mytrading."

I received 15 e-mails that day, all outlining profitable tradesin the stock index futures markets. And when Ithanked everyone thefollowing morning for sending me their e-mails and charts with theprofitable trades, fouror five more traders chimed in that they, too, had caught the move and promptly sent me their charts fromtheprior day! I can't show the 20 or more charts here, but you canbet I felt 100 feet tall that morning! I made anice profit on themove down the day before, but more important to me, many of thepeople who attend mymorning sessions caught it as well, using atechnique I taught them that same morning!
